Michelle Obama’s second Vogue cover revealed

America's First Lady, Michelle Obama, was photographed by Annie Leibovitz for her second US Vogue cover.

Michelle Obama, who wears a blue dress by one of her favourite designers, Reed Krakoff, reportedly resisted Leibovitz's efforts "to entice [her] into one of her trademark creative shoots she's employed for so many Hollywood celebrities", reports the Washington Post . The photographer is known for her fantastical shoots which usually employ vast budgets, costumes, sets and often nudity .

The First Lady's second cover comes four years after her first, which was shot shortly after her husband was elected as President. But she's not the only President's wife to pose for the fashion bible - Hillary Clinton appeared on its December 1998 cover during her stint as the President's wife, and many others have appeared inside the magazine.

It's no great surprise that Mrs Obama, 49, agreed to pose for the publication again - editor-in-chief Anna Wintour was one of Barack Obama's foremost fundraisers during his re-election campaign - however Jonathan Van Meter, who conducted the interview inside the issue, said it took him three years to secure the interview with the couple.

Inside the issue, Michelle reportedly talks about her husband's lack of style and the amount of attention paid to her wardrobe choices - she is, after all, the first First Lady to receive so much coverage, and criticism, for her clothing.

Net-A-Porter relaunch online magazine

Luxury online shopping destination Net-A-Porter has relaunched its weekly online magazine, 'The Edit', and announced further plans for a print publication.

Following last December's news that luxury online shopping destination Net-A-Porter is planning to launch a print magazine, the site will today relaunch its weekly editorial online offering, The Edit , under the direction of editor-in-chief Lucy Yeomans, the former editor of Harper's Bazaar .

The new The Edit is phase one of the site's print and magazine project, headed by Yeomans, which aims to produce editorial content to rival that of publications such as Vogue , Harper's Bazaar and Elle . The free weekly 30-page online magazine will feature fashion shoots, news, features and interviews and will replace the site's current e-magazine offerings.

Of The Edit , the debut issue of which is covered by Natalia Vodianova, Yeomans says she wanted to create a worldwide publication "for and about women with great style and great stories."
The Edit will be followed by an as-yet-unnamed 300-page quarterly print publication slated to be unveiled later this year. It will offer a more "in-depth experience", incorporating stories on politics, culture and art with fashion editorials and features.

"We have an extraordinary customer base and we have to make sure we are looking after their needs, and that means bringing in the best of everything out there," Yeomans told WWD . "And I do think there is a place for a new global magazine, a slice of international culture and style."

Emma Stone crowned 2012's Best Dressed, twice!!

Actress Emma Stone has topped both Vogue's and InStyle's best dressed of 2012 lists this week, making her the most stylish starlet of the year.

It seems 2012 has been quite the year for rising star Emma Stone.

Not only has the 24-year-old won a slew of acting accolades, appeared on countless magazine covers (including both the US and British editions of Vogue , one month after the other) and bagged herself Spiderman as a boyfriend, she's also scored big in the style stakes, becoming fashion's newest darling.

Style bible US Vogue apparently agree, choosing her to grace the cover of their annual 'best dressed' issue - an accolade which last year went to the sartorially-adored Olsen twins. The publication, which names the 10 most stylish stars of the year, also pledges their fashion approval of Rooney Mara, Solange Knowles, Zoe Saldana, Leelee Sobieski, Lauren Santo Domingo, Kristen Stewart, Lily Kwong, Kimberly Chandler and Dree Hemingway.

Lady Gaga 'The Naked Truth' on Vogue Hommes Japan

Fashion director Nicola Formichetti has announced that the autumn/winter 2012 issue of Vogue Hommes Japan will be the last.

Men's style bible Vogue Hommes Japan will cease publication following its autumn/winter 2012 issue.

The magazine was launched in September 2008 as the Japanese counterpart to the long-running and highly-respected L'Uomo Vogue , the Italian Vogue for men.

Fashion director Nicola Formichetti - who is also the creative director of fashion house Mugler, a long-time collaborator of singer Lady Gaga's and the fashion director of high street store Uniqlo - announced the news via his Tumblr page yesterday.

In a short statement he said publishers Condé Nast had decided to switch "its men's publication globally from Vogue to GQ Style ." He added, "I loved the issues we made together. Each issue was a chance to collaborate with the best creatives in the world. Our goal was to push the boundaries of fashion and oh boy did we take it there!!"

Formichetti also hinted that he is set to pursue a new print venture with two of his colleagues from Vogue Hommes Japan . "In this digital world, I still love making magazines," he said.

The Chinese, Brazilian and US editions of the publication met a similar fate, with all folding within five years of their launch.

Vogue Café and GQ Bar to open in Dubai Mall

Dubai Mall is preparing to welcome the Vogue café and a GQ bar, both titles belonging to Condé Nast.

Diversification is the name of the game over at Condé Nast. The international publishing house responsible for Vogue , Vanity Fair , Glamour and GQ already has designs on a fashion college , and is now set to conquer the Middle East with a Vogue café and GQ bar.

A new Vogue Café (there is already one in Russia) is slated to launch in Dubai by the end of the year, but this being glossy fashion bible Vogue , it will be housed inside the world's largest shoe store.
Level Shoe District, a 96,000 sq ft luxury retail space, will stock more than 250 shoe brands and is situated in Dubai Mall at the foot of the world's tallest skyscraper - the 828 metre-high Burj Khalifa.

"The expatriate community and the local Emirati community are very conscious of brands," said Stuart Nielsen, director of Conde Nast's restaurant division, which was launched in 2010. "People always love to eat and drink, and we see an opportunity because they love fashion."

The Vogue Café will not serve alcohol, but a hotel-based bar inspired by its men's title, GQ , is being plotted for launch in Dubai early next year, would.

The company is planning to open another GQ Bar in Istanbul this year, and has signed deals for Condé Nast establishments in Bangkok and Singapore, Nielsen said. It is also considering opening cafés in Mideast cities closer to Dubai, including Kuwait City and the Emirati capital, Abu Dhabi.

Kate Moss and George Michael take their friendship to the cover of Vogue Paris

Neighbours, friends, and now cover stars. Kate Moss and BFF George Michael land the October 2012 cover of Vogue Paris.

George and Kate, sitting in a tree, K.I.S.S.I.N.G. Well, probably not the last bit, but the celebrity pair - who are also neighbours in London's chi-chi Highgate Village, really do seem to be the best of friends at the moment.

After Moss moaned that being left out of Michael's Freedom 90 supermodel video was her greatest career regret, Michael promptly made amends by giving Croydon's finest a starring role in his latest single 'White Light' in which she flips a coin to decide the singer's fate.

George later told Magic FM that he chose Kate because she reminds him of his late mum, who the singer was extremely close to. "Every boy who has lost their mum thinks his mum was the most beautiful woman in the world. Why not ask someone who is considered the most beautiful woman in the world in many ways to be that figure?" Welling up here already…

Now the pair have had their love-in committed to fashion history thanks to a Vogue Paris cover and spread shot by renowned photographer, Mario Testino.

We haven't had a peek between the sheets yet, and the cover line 'The pop star falls for the top model, by Mario Testino' doesn't give much away, but this much we do know: A bronzed and bearded George looks in fine fettle after his brush with death last year, and is busting an altogether much more acceptable outfit than the world of leather festival he showed up in at the Olympics Closing Ceremony, while Moss still scrubs up well for the camera (though we would LOVE to get a glimpse of the re-touching bill).

Kate Moss goes for Olympic gold

Supermodel Kate Moss poses in gold McQueen gown for British Vogue shoot to mark the Olympic Closing Ceremony. But is this the dress she'll wear on the night?

Her sporting credentials extend to walking her dog in the country and practising yoga, but Kate Moss has got into the Olympic spirit in the latest issue of Vogue.

The 38-year-old supermodel poses in the pages of the monthly style bible in a gold encrusted, bias-cut gown conceived by Sarah Burton of Alexander McQueen to celebrate the London 2012 Closing Ceremony.

In collaboration with the British Fashion Council, Vogue commissioned visionary photographer Nick Knight to capture Moss and fellow top British models wearing unique designs by the country's top design talent.

Fellow super, Naomi Campbell, also sports McQueen in the shoot, while aristocratic beauty Stella Tennant can be seen in Christopher Kane. Lilys Cole and Donaldson wear Erdem and Vivienne Westwood respectively, while Burberry favourite Jourdan Dunn dons Jonathan Saunders. Gap-toothed Georgia May Jagger has been outfitted in Victoria Beckham while man-of-the-moment David Gandy wears Paul Smith.

With rumours abounding that Vogue's line-up of models will star in the actual London 2012 Closing Ceremony, is this a teaser of the frocks that are to grace Stratford's Olympic Stadium? However one thing is for sure: with top Brazilian model Alessanda Ambrosio in the house to participate in the handover of the Olympic Flag from London to Brazil, the host nation of the next Summer Olympic Games, August 12 is set to be the most stylish date of the year.

Kim Kardashian imitates her mother for first ever Vogue cover

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian channelled her mother Kris Jenner for her L'Uomo Vogue cover shoot.

Kim Kardashian on the cover of L'Uomo Vogue

No matter if you're a newly-discovered Bambi-legged model or a global superstar on the scale of Rihanna, bagging a Vogue cover carries the ultimate cachet, and now the world's most famous reality TV star, Kim Kardashian, can add the role to her CV.

The curvaceous 31-year-old was photographed looking uncannily like her mother and manager, Kris Jenner, for the July/August issue of L'Uomo Vogue , the Italian Condé Nast title dedicated to men's style.

"My mother has always been the social glue holding the family together" Kim says, "she's a very dynamic woman who loves organizing parties, playing tennis, cooking with friends and relaxing in the pool."

Revelations in the accompanying interview show Kim to be the owner of 224 pairs of Christian Louboutin heels, and a rather odd superstitious disposition: "I always put clothes and family photos under the mattress, in case the house burns down".

Kate Moss turns Auctioneer and Photographer for an Evening

Model Kate Moss shows her charitable - and multi-talented side - at a fundraising dinner at Claridge's.

Kate Moss is still popping up on the odd Vogue cover and can be seen on billboards modelling for Mango, but it appears she's spending the rest of her time homemaking in Highgate and enjoying food festivals at her country retreat (yes.... really!!).

Last night she diversified her hobbies one step further by auctioning off a painting by her good friend, Rolling Stones rocker Ronnie Wood. As mentioned in 'The Telegraph', Kate was at Claridge's hotel in London at a fundraiser in honour of Marie Curie Cancer Care, and dutifully modelled the portrait of Rod Stewart - Ronnie's old bandmate from his Faces days - to the privileged guests, before it was sold for £12,000 (almost 71,000 AED)

Bumping into her sometime collaborator, photographer David Bailey, it appears Moss was inspired to take a few snaps of her own, as she was seen toting an enormous camera and pointing it at the well-heeled crowd, which included Sarah Ferguson and her daughter Princess Beatrice.
