This is the new face of Saint Laurent

Goth rocker Marilyn Manson has been unveiled as the latest unlikely famous face to front a Saint Laurent campaign.

Nope, this isn't a poorly-timed April Fool, Marilyn Manson really is the new face of the fashion house formerly known as Yves Saint Laurent.

The unlikely casting is another step in creative director Hedi Slimane's mission to revamp the storied fashion house since he took the reigns last year. Manson's image, though a little frightening, does fit nicely with Slimane's grunge-led aesthetic but whether or not the 44-year-old will help shift shed loads of the $4,900 leather jacket he's sporting in the campaign remains to be seen. To give him his due, Manson's charms have previously won over Dita von Teese and Evan Rachel Wood, so there's definitely something about Marilyn, we're just not sure what exactly.

The first promotional image was leaked on Friday by Scene editor Peter Davis, and the unlikely partnership was later confirmed by the brand although the official unveiling of the entire campaign is yet to happen.

Could Cartier put an end to fashion spoofs?

Jewellery brand Cartier have taken legal action after a New York student produced a profane spoof of their branding.

Over the last month or so the fashion market has become flooded with 'parody branding' - when famous, iconic logos are taken and given a comical twist, such as What about Yves?'s 'Ain't Laurent without Yves' tees, Reasons' 'Celine (Dion)' branding, Conflict of Interests' 'Ill Sander' logo and Brian Lichtenberg's 'Homies' play on Hermès. Celebs have got in on the trend too, with the likes of Cara Delevingne and Rihanna sporting various spoofs and boosting their popularity further.

But now it appears the trend may have gone too far, with luxury jewellery brand Cartier taking one such jovial spoof to court.

The brand in question is KTHANKSBYE, which was set up by a Parsons The New School for Design graphic design masters student known only as Fahad. Fahad created a small range of baseball caps and knitted beanies featuring a profane play on Cartier's branding (hint: swap the 'ar' for 'un') using the same typeface and brand colours - an idea which sprang from a friend complaining about the jewellers poor customer service, reports The Daily Beast .

Jessica Alba in Oscar de la Renta adopted the colour spectrum's most rosy shade, while Jennifer Lopez in Zuhair Murad, Megan Fox in Dolce & Gabbana and Amy Adams opted for the palest of nude hues.

Hathaway, in Chanel, and her Les Misérables co-star Amanda Seyfried chose white gowns, while there was plenty of classic black - courtesy of Kate Hudson and Nicole Kidman, both in Alexander McQueen, Rachel Weisz in Louis Vuitton and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley in Saint Laurent.

These two will front the Saint Laurent SS2013 Campaign

British musician Beck and model Edie Campbell front the latest instalment of Saint Laurent's spring/summer 2013 campaign, shot by creative director Hedi Slimane.

There seems to be a new Saint Laurent campaign every week. We've had the 'internet campaign' starring Anja Rubik, an 'Introduction Campaign Video' starring former Girls frontman Christopher Owens, part one of the spring/summer 2013 menswear campaign featuring female model Saskia de Brauw, and part one of the spring/summer 2013 featuring model Julia Nobis. Phew. And now we have part two of the both the men's and women's campaigns, featuring Edie Campbell and singer Beck.

Shot by creative director Hedi Slimane, it's in the usual moody black and white format.

British singer-songwriter Beck is reportedly a long-time friend of Slimane's, and the designer is well known for his love of musicians (see Christopher Owens). As far as we know, it's 42-year-old Beck's first modelling assignment, and we think he looks rather good.

22-year-old Edie is quickly racking up the big-money campaigns, with Karl Lagerfeld, Burberry, Anya Hindmarch and Just Cavalli already under her tiny belt.

Louboutin Loses.... Again!!

A court in New York, USA, has dismissed the lawsuit brought by Christian Louboutin against Yves Saint Laurent over its red monochrome shoes.

Christian Louboutin and Yves Saint Laurent will start the New Year without a court feud rumbling on between the two brands, news reports show.

The United States District Court for the Southern District of New York entered a final order on Thursday, December 27, in the Christian Louboutin v. Yves Saint Laurent case, dismissing the lawsuit. In the order, Louboutin acknowledged that it has no further claims in this case or otherwise arising from the trademark of Louboutin as modified by the Court of Appeals against YSL over red monochrome shoes.
