WHAT TO WEAR FOR A JOB INTERVIEW IN FASHION

Seven tips to keep in mind, straight from industry professionals.

One key thing we learned is that unlike, say, the finance sector, various jobs within the fashion industry warrant different types of interview outfits. So we talked to people in different fields -- PR, editorial, and design -- about what they've seen, what worked, what didn't, and more. Read on for what they said and what we determined to be the seven most important guidelines. Oh, and if you're looking for a job, you should obviously check out our careers page.

Wear something you feel comfortable in and be yourself.

"Be yourself" might be the most overused piece of advice of all time, but enough of the people we spoke to insisted upon it that we decided not to spare you. It's natural to want to project some super fashionable idea of yourself for a job interview, but your interviewer will be able to tell.

That being said, you should also reflect the aesthetic of the company you're interviewing with.

If you're interviewing for a designer or specific fashion brand, for instance, you aren't expected to be wearing that designer head to toe, but it doesn't hurt to try and reflect their aesthetic.

Don't overdo it.

The old Coco Chanel quote about taking one thing off before you leave the house applies well in job interview situations. Going too far with your lewk could get you noticed for the wrong reasons.

Be clean and get a manicure.

Perez says that wearing something visibly dirty or wrinkled or having an overall unkempt appearance could give the impression that the interviewee wasn't making an effort and that they weren't detail-oriented. Plus, little things can be distracting.

When in doubt, just wear black.

"If you are at a loss for what to wear to an interview, remember: JWB (Just Wear Black)," advises Way. "The most important thing is for you to be yourself and comfortable in your own skin first, outfit second."

You don't have to wear heels.

In fact, don't unless you know you feel comfortable in them.

Your clothes can definitely make an impression and make you memorable, so taking risks can pay off.

Basically, if you're confident you have great style, go for it. While no one we spoke to said that they've made a hiring decision (positive or negative) based solely on someone's outfit, most of them admitted that clothing does make an impact.

Lady Fozaza isn't just a brand...

Ladyfozaza isn't just a brand.... It's a statement! A movement! A destination & a message. The #LacyLeopard leads the pack into the wild side of life where things happen... Where you make things happen... To all my queens of the jungle; it's time to shine!

Juicy Couture founders talk fashion passion

EN Fashion - Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash Taylor believe passion is a must to succeed.

The two designers are the brains behind Juicy Couture and started the multimillion dollar company with just $200 in 1997. They sold it in 2003 for $250 million.

Far from becoming complacent with fashion and style, Gela enthuses that drive and an infatuation with what you do is a must for any budding business.

"Looking at it like your job is to solve problems when you walk in the door every day, even if it's a hem or a stitch or a seam leaving a hole in something," Gela revealed to Teen Vogue. "When I looked at it like that, I thought, 'Oh, I can do this.' Ultimately though, it all comes down to having a passion for what you do.
"We were born to make clothes! We could have retired and ridden off into the sunset, but this is what we love."

"We are two freaks obsessed with making clothes," laughed Pamela.

#GIRLBOSS, the most motivational fashion book to read this year

It's not a memoir, nor a business book, but Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso's #GIRLBOSS is a compellingly motivational read

It's hard to summarise Nasty Gal founder Sophia Amoruso's #GIRLBOSS; part-biography and part self-empowerment manual, at the beginning she writes what it clearly isn't: "This book will not teach you how to get rich quick, break into the fashion industry, or start a business. It is neither a feminist manifesto or a memoir."

What the book is filled with is a mix of candid anecdotes, some that Amoruso is less than proud of - such as when she regularly shoplifted, to unapologetic tales of the time a team member purchased eye-wateringly expensive office chairs, which she then tasked someone with selling on Craiglist, the US equivalent of Gumtree.

If you're not familiar with Amoruso, then she can be best described as the accidental founder and CEO of a $100 million-plus fashion e-tailer which employs around 350 staff in its cool Los Angeles head office. Oh, and that she only just turned 30.

#GIRLBOSS isn't full of annoying hashtags as the title might suggest. Far from it - instead, it is Amoruso's tale of how she transitioned from a part-time vintage seller on eBay to becoming the head of one of the fastest-growing companies in the United States. What's endearing about the San Francisco-raised character is how she's been forced to adapt to her new-found 'fame' as, afterall, she admits to starting an eBay business so that she wouldn't have to talk to members of the public.

Alexander Wang Is Bringing Back An 'SNL' Favorite For His Latest Fashion Ad

As one of "Saturday Night Live's" favorite characters used to say: “You can’t have-a-da-Mango!”

But as it turns out -- now you can. On June 3, Mango, better known as SNL's sketch character brought to life by Chris Kattan, teams up with Alexander Wang for his latest collection, T by Alexander Wang. In the 26-second short below, you can see familiar hints of Mango's signature look (pink top, gold shorts, beret) while taking in all of Mango's sass.

When asked by Style.com about the reasoning behind the partnership with the "SNL" superstar, Wang explained, “Sometimes when fashion becomes too stiff, it’s great to have someone such as Mango come through and inject a new burst of energy. Having fun and a sense of humor is so important to me that when I’m able to incorporate it into my work, I run with it.”

Rachel Zoe Talks Summer Fashion Trends

Rachel Zoe is used to having a lot on her plate between her career and being a mom to young sons Skyler and Kaius.

One of her latest endeavors? She's partnering with Jockey's Skimmies slipshorts. Pro tip: Be sure to check out their Facebook page for a chance to win weekly prizes.

But between all of her gigs, she still manages to look perfectly polished and put together, always. So in our exclusive sit-down with the stylist, we of course had to ask her which trends she's loving for summer.

But beyond clothes and makeup, Rachel explained it's really about the attitude you exude. "To be honest, it's all about confidence," she said. "When you look better, you feel better and smile more. Trust me, it goes a long way."

Lottie Moss stars in first fashion shoot

Kate Moss may be celebrating turning 40 today but her little sister Lottie is celebrating the unveiling of her first modelling gig

Kate Moss's half-sister Lottie Moss has taken up her first proper modelling gig after being officially signed by Storm Models last week - and she's gone to her former almost-brother-in-law's publication to do so.

The 16-year-old stars in an editorial entitled From Lottie with Love in the latest issue of Dazed & Confused, the magazine that was set up by Jefferson Hack, Kate Moss's former partner and the father of her daughter Lila.

The shoot, which has been strategically released on the day of elder Moss's 40th birthday, took place on the streets of London with photographers Sean and Seng, both of whom couldn't have been more taken with the teen.

Kate Moss at 40... in Quotes...

As Kate Moss celebrates turning 40, we take a look back at some of the most insightful and infamous quotes the publicity-shy model has given us

Kate Moss is known for many things, but the spoken word isn't one of them.

Even in this age of social media, Moss has declined to sign up and share the slightest detail (though she does have a secret, protected Instagram account), something she credits to her most famous ex, Johnny Depp.

"He told me 'never complain, never explain'. That's why I don't use Twitter and things like that," she told Vanity Fair in 2012. "I don't want people to know what is true all the time and that's what keeps the mystery."

But avoiding social media, arguably the source of many a newsworthy quote in this day and age, hasn't helped her to avoid quotation controversy.

When asked if she had any mottos by WWD in 2009, she tactlessly responded: "Nothing tastes as good as skinny feels." The comment sparked uproar and Moss was condemned for glamorizing and encouraging eating disorders.

Years of silence and a little controversy aside, when Moss has spoken, she's given us some tasty insights into her life and career, here are some of the best and what they say about her…

"I see a 16-year-old now and to ask her to take her clothes off would feel really weird. But they were like, if you don't do it, then we're not going to book you again," she told Vanity Fair in 2012.

Sure, Moss may be known for her lack of inhibitions - it didn't take Playboy to get her full-frontal nude, she'd been doing it for years - but that hasn't always been the way. She was just 16 when she unwillingly shot her famed topless shoot for The Face with Corinne Day, the photos that launched her career. When the world's biggest model is questioning the industry's interaction with young models, surely that's a wake-up call.

Kim Kardashian to Sing on Kanye West's New Album

Reality TV star Kim Kardashian may be about to venture into something very different from her usual day-to-day drama series.

A report in Media Take Out suggests that the 32-year-old expectant mum may be singing on beau Kanye West's upcoming album.

Apparently Kardashian will have a very small part to sing, perhaps as an "intro or an interlude" in the song, reports Hollywood Life.

However, this is not the first time the starlet has displayed her vocal skills. In 2011, she released a track called Jam (Turn It Up), produced by The Dream.

Having risen to fame after the publication of a tex tape featuring her and rapper Ray J, Kardashian has become one of the world's most recognisable reality stars thanks to her role in E!s fly-on-the-wall show Keeping Up With Kardashians.

War begins over the legacy of Yves Saint Laurent

War has erupted over the screen legacy of Yves Saint Laurent after the late fashion designer's longtime partner threatened to sue the makers of a "warts-and-all" biopic, while backing another "official" film.

Tensions had been mounting between the two rival productions ahead of a release date for both films on the flamboyant bad boy of French fashion slated for release later this year.

In the red corner, Saint Laurent , a film directed by Bertrand Bonello, has received the go ahead from the owner of Yves Saint Laurent brand, François Pinault, to use the logo and dresses in his possession.

In the blue corner, Yves Saint Laurent , directed by Jalil Lespert, is a film which has the official blessing of Pierre Bergé, 82, the couturier's companion on and off from 1958 until his death in 2008 and the guardian of his creative legacy.

"Two films on YSL? I hold the moral rights over YSL's work, his image and mine and have only authorised Jalil Lespert. A trial on the cards?," threatened the multi-millionaire part-owner of Le Monde newspaper on his Twitter account.

TAG Heuer's LINK Lady does far more than Tell the Time

What's on your wrist tells a lot about you... TAG Heuer has that in mind every time a lady's timepiece is created. It is the favorite timepiece of many celebrities alike Cameron Diaz. Here's why..

For women who prefer stainless steel without sacrificing any of the luxury and opulence, 48 diamonds move center stage in TAG Heuer Lady Link timepiece. Sitting serenely on the bezel, they converse fluently with the 11 diamonds set in the dial. Exalted by their brilliance, the timepiece defers to the jewel. For the wearer, this model does far more than tell the time, it brings a glow of delight.

“The Link Lady is more than a timepiece, it’s a piece of jewellery. When I put it on my wrist, I don’t feel it. It is easy-to-wear, sparkling, and feminine”, said Cameron Diaz when discovering the new collection.

Lady Fozaza: "You have seen nothing yet"

They say when you love what you do, you will never fail... It was a thought, and the thought became an idea. And that idea transformed into textiles and material that found home not only in Alanoud's heart, but in the closets of all those who appreciate fashion and cheer exquisite design.

What is coming next? And what is being cooked in the Lady Fozaza fashion kitchen?? All you have to do is wait see. All we can say for now is... you have seen nothing yet.
