Alanoud Badr, or Lady Fozaza as she is popularly known, may have started her line of jackets only a year ago, but they have already been spotted on celebs like Kim and Kourtney Kardashian, Evan Rachel Wood, Nancy Ajram, and Karolina Kurkova. Born to a Saudi dad, and half-Lebanese and half-American mom, the 32-year-old has been in Dubai for the last 20 years. She started out in advertising, and moved to finance, but the self-confessed shopping addict felt there was a gap in the market for edgy, high-fashion blazers.
The brand name — that has become eponymous these days — and the inspiration to start the line came from her favourite aunt, and considering she had been going to tailors for years to get jackets custom-made, she decided to give it a shot. And once Kim Kardashian was spotted in her designs, Bloomingdale’s called her, and now she stocks exclusively at the store in the UAE.
Given her eye for detail, and passion for fashion, Alanoud’s wardrobe is any girl’s dream come true. The hottest bags, shoes that look like pieces of art, the coolest outfits and statement clutches — it is like a treasure trove. While putting together her outfit of the day (which are super popular on her Instagram feed), she likes to start at her shoes and work her way up. She never thought she would wear the military trend, and cringes at the fashion during the 80s. When asked her about her style mantra, she says, “Wear the clothes, don’t let the clothes wear you.”
