'Galliano's work is NO LONGER RELEVANT'!!!!

Raf Simons, the creative director of Dior, has spoken of his shamed predecessor John Galliano for the first time, saying he believes his work is no longer "relevant" as it restricts women.

Since taking the helm at Dior earlier this year, Raf Simons has kept schtum when it comes to discussing his disgraced predecessor, John Galliano - until now, that is.

Speaking in the latest issue of Vogue Australia, the Belgian designer has revealed that he no longer sees Galliano's work at the iconic design house as "relevant".

"I have so much respect for John [Galliano]'s technical skill and the fantasy, it's just something that I don't find relevant now, especially when it restricts a woman, because in every other area they have so much freedom," he said.

Whilst Simons is known, and indeed loved, for his minimalist approach when it comes to cut and colour, Galliano is famed for his elaborate, extroverted creations, many of which made for exciting catwalk shows but often did not translate in terms of wearability.

John Galliano Scandal

The latest twist in the story that won't go away sees John Galliano's  award revoked by François Hollande.

After being photographed lunching at the Paris Ritz with Anna Wintour during Haute Couture Fashion Week, it seemed things might finally be on the up for disgraced fashion designer John Galliano.

However WWD report that following his conviction for hurling anti-Semitic abuse at a woman outside a Paris café in February 2011, Galliano has been stripped of his Legion of Honour Award by French President, François Hollande.

The Gibraltar-born British fashion designer, who was ousted from creative director roles at both Christian Dior and his eponymous label following his arrest, was decorated as a Chevalier of the Legion of Honour at the Elysée Palace in 2010. The award is traditionally given for services to France, with other decorated fashion luminaries numbering Hubert de Givenchy, Yves Saint Laurent, Azzedine Alaïa, Franca Sozzani, Marc Jacobs and Anna Wintour.

With rumours circling that he is poised to make a comeback in the ever-forgiving fashion world, Galliano will no doubt be dismayed that talk of the ugly incident - which the designer attributed to work-related stress - has flared-up again.

Separately, it is believed that Galliano has lodged an employee/employer dispute claim for over €15 million (£11.9 million) at the Conseil des Prud'hommes, with a Paris hearing scheduled for February 4, 2013.

Galliano Found Guilty

Since Feb we have been following the case of ex Dior designer John Galliano (full story click here), and Today we find out he has been found guilty of making anti-semitic and racist comments.

Galliano charges according to Elle, 'Galliano was issued a €4,000 suspended fine (only payable if he fails to comply with court orders) and instructed to pay a symbolic euro to two plaintiffs for the February 24 incident. He was also fined €2,000 suspended, for a separate event in October 2010. The sentence did not carry any jail time".

Galliano must be pleased with the No jail time (which in my opinion would be way to harsh and unneccessary), he would've faced a maximum charge of 6 months in jail and 22,500euros in fines. Luckily his prosecutors were lenient and made him pay upto 6000euros.

Considering Galliano state at the time apparently he was heading for a breakdown, Galliano admits "After every creative high I would crash, and the alcohol would help me to escape". Who knows what could've happened to him, he should see this as a blessing in disguise.

We hope Galliano continues rehab and leads a stable future in fashion, such a shame if he doesn't continue designing. A great talent would be missed!

John Galliano With Kate Moss & The Wedding Dress

Kate Moss has stood by her friend designer John Galliano through the good and bad. Even though Galliano was going through a scandel and rehab he still had time to design Moss's dream wedding dress, which in my opinion was so classic and beautiful it fitted Moss like a glove.

The images of the Kate Moss wedding continues in US Vogue photographed by Mario Testino

Could The Rumours Be True? Marc Jacobs For Dior

Rumours have been speculating that Marc Jacobs might be the replacement for John Galliano at Dior.
Vogue UK reports

Since Galliano left Dior there has been that question mark who will take over? The person who does replace Galliano has to have the same creative, edgy, artistic talent to make Dior the way it was. If it were to be Marc Jacobs he could most probably carry on that theatrical feel to Dior.
But what will happen to Louis Vuitton, if Jacobs leaves LV as head of designer? Phoebe Philo, Celine's creative director could replace him as well as continuing her role in Celine.

Do you feel Marc Jacobs would be the best replacement for Galliano? If the rumours are true, Dior might change abit but I still feel Jacobs would continue that imaginative, dramatic theme Dior has. Well I hope so!

John Galliano Replaced By Bill Gaytten

Since John Galliano dismissal from Christian Dior and own label John Galliano, there has been much speculation as who will replace Galliano as creative director at Dior and Galliano.
It has been reported by Vogue UK via WWD, that Bill Gaytten will be the replacement at 'John Galliano'. Gaytten is no stranger to working with Galliano, for 23 years he worked on both John Galliano and Dior label as part of the design team.

Gaytten reported "It's the same job for me; I've been doing it for a long time, (The menswear show) was a bit different because John wasn't there. I'm dying to know what he thinks!" LVMH

Galliano is back in rehab since facing his trial last week, and will know the verdict in Septemeber. I hope Galliano comes back to his own label! Best of luck to Bill Gaytten.

John Galliano Sacked From Own Label

This is not a good year for designer John Galliano. First Galliano was sacked for his anti-Semitism in earlier March from Christian Dior, and now WWD reports this morning that John Galliano has been fired from his position as head designer at the John Galliano label.
Galliano label was set up in 1984, after he graduated from Central Saint Martins College of Art and Design and 91 per cent is owned by Christian Dior SA, therefore there's no surprise Galliano would be let go by them aswell.

According to sources 'the 17 year old firm's board recently met and decided to eject the maverick British designer'.

Such a shame I can't imagine the Fashion world and especially the runways without the creative Galliano. Start stocking up on your Galliano designs, they will be history soon...

John Galliano Private Showing At Paris Fashion Week

One thing for sure John Galliano will never lose his talent. Galliano Fall 2011 Collection was showcased privately at Paris Fashion Week and it was like seeing all his designs throughout the years in one collection. The 30s era was the inspiration for hair and make up which went perfectly well with Galliano tailored suit jackets. The hand of Galliano will truly be missed, hopefully it wont be for long...

John Galliano Has Been Dismissed From Dior

What a hectic couple of days its been for Designer John Galliano, he was arrested for his anti-semitic rant at a bar in Paris Marais district last Thursday. Because of his unfortunate behaviour Galliano has been fired from Fashion house Dior.

Having said racist comments to couple Geraldine Bloch and partner Philippe Virgiti, and then a video surfacing where Galliano made other remarks when he was drunk, didn't really help his case, as its caused him to first be suspended then fired by Christian Dior Fashion house and only days before Galliano was meant to show his latest Fall/Winter 2012 collection at Paris Fashion Week.

As much as I don't agree with whatever Galliano said he was drunk at the time and mistakes happen. Dismissing Galliano will be a great loss to Dior, lets not forget how extremely creative and talented Galliano is. To be honest one of the reason's I couldn't wait to see Paris Fashion Week especially Haute Couture Week was for the Dior show by Galliano. Whoever will replace being creative director at Dior has big boots to fill, rumour has it Lanvin's Alber Elbaz, Christian Lacroix and Haider Ackermann are being suggested. Otherwise I wonder if John Galliano will still design for his own line Galliano?

The Heart of Fashion Paris Couture Week

Paris Haute Couture week kicked off with Armani Prive, where we witnessed crystalled jewels and silhouette designs which got our jaws dropping.
Now let us show you the man who gives us chills down our spine when we see his Haute Couture Collection, Monsieur John Galliano.
For Christian Dior Couture Collection Galliano went for volumptious ballgowns, heavy embroidery, feathers and dramatic make up. Galliano is all about confidence and when you see the models strutting there stuff down the runway, you just know there loving it, I know I would, it's Galliano designs!
